Assunto: Projeto OpenCDN
The Brazilian Network Information Center (NIC.br), which implements decisions by The Brazilian Internet Steering Committee (CGI.br), has proposed a decentralisation of internet traffic from the Sao Paulo IXP, which currently accounts for 80 percent of all internet traffic. The OpenCDN project proposes the distribution of content from the main CDNs (Content Delivery Network) to the other 25 internet exchange points in the country.
With the decentralisation of traffic from the Sao Paulo PTT, access to content such as Netflix and Google, for example, would be faster. NIC.br plans to conduct tests in Curitiba at the beginning of 2016 and the continuity of the project will depend on the success of this initial phase.
