Debate on cultural policies marks launching of publication TIC Cultura 2016

The IX International Seminar of Cultural Policies dedicated its first day of activities , last Tuesday (15 May, 2018), to the launching of the publication TIC Cultura 2016 (ICT Culture 2016, in free translation), conducted by the Steering Committee of Intenet in Brazil (CGI.br, in Portuguese acronym) through its Regional Centre of Studies for the Development of the Information Society (Cetic.br).

The event, a partnership between the UNESCO Chair of Cultural Policies and Management (Fundação Casa de Rui Barbosa – FCRB) and Itau Cultural Observatory, counted on the participation of researchers, managers and other individuals interested in discussing the indicators of the study and other subjects related to cultural policies and digital technologies. 

During the opening ceremony, Marta de Senna, president of Fundação Casa de Rui Barbosa, reinforced the indispensable the character of the information and communication technologies (ICT) for the development of the intellectual work e for its dissemination.  Adauto Soares, coordinator of Communication and Information at UNESCO in Brazil, emphasized that the cultural industry needs data e historical series on the use of ICT, reminding that Cetic.br is a Category II Centre of UNESCO and praising the legacy of CGI.br and NIC.br for the Internet in Brazil.
